1828Beau Pre, built this year and originally known as Pine Grove Plantation, is bought in 1830 by John W. Jeanerette, the first Postmaster between New Iberia and Charenton, and for whom Jeanerette is named. This historic home escaped the destruction of military operations in the area during the Civil War.
