This self-proclaimed Pine Tree Capital of the World was incorporated in 1909 and provides an excellent place to live only 20 miles from the state capital.
Walker, Louisiana, originally named Milton Old Field for Michael Milton who claimed the land in Livingston Parish in 1853. Walker post office established in 1856. Named for Wm. E. Walker, M.D., state legislator and organizer of Co. D 16th La. Inf., CSA. Town incorporated in 1909.
