Fire
Department
The Iberville Parish Sheriff’s main office handles all of the criminal, civil and tax division operations, as well as police protection, throughout the parish. Iberville Parish is under 24-hour patrol and presently has xx regular deputies, with xx cars and x boats to patrol the parish.

Iberville Parish has x fire stations with at least xxxx volunteer firemen located throughout the parish. Fire rating is 6 in City and Town and 8 in the remainder of the parish.
Hospitals
Several world renown medical institutions staffed by pioneering physicians and equipped with state-of-the-art technology are located near Iberville Parish. There is one hospital located in Plaquemine with a total of 100 beds. The medical field in the parish is comprised of 2 clinics, 30 doctors and 18 dentists. Two nursing homes with a total of 233 beds also serve the community. Acadian Ambulance Service is available in the parish. Residents also have access to the large number of medical facilities located in the regional area, including the LSU and Tulane Medical Centers in New Orleans and numerous other public and private medical facilities in Baton Rouge and New Orleans.

Parks
and
Recreation
Iberville Parish provides a comprehensive parks and recreation program for residents of the parish. The park system consists of district, town and neighborhood sites located throughout the parish, many lighted for night use. Recreation programs include aerobics, tennis, swimming, arts & crafts, soccer, tee ball, and athletic leagues for all ages.

The Iberville Civic Center, located in Plaquemine, provides ample space for Mardi Gras activities, small expositions and other social events. Boating, tubing, and fishing on local rivers and lakes are also major activities for visitors and residents of the parish. Approximately one hour away the parish also has access to the vast recreational and cultural facilities of the metropolitan New Orleans area: including the new Aquarium of the Americas, the New Orleans Symphony, opera and ballet, the National Football Leagueós New Orleans Saints, NCAA college athletics from Tulane University, University of New Orleans, Louisiana State University, and others. Two race tracks are also located there. Boating and fishing in the Atchafalaya Basin is also a major activity for residents of the parish.

Shopping
There are many large shopping centers located in Baton Rouge, only a few miles to the west and has seen an explosion of retail activity in the past few years. In New Orleans the Riverwalk, Canal Place, and New Orleans Centre have added several specialty retail outlets, including national chain outlets like Lord and Taylor, Macyós, Brooks Brothers, Sharper Image and Saks Fifth Avenue.
Media
Communications in the area include two local weekly newspapers (The Post South and Bayou Country‹Plaquemine). Metropolitan daily newspapers from Baton Rouge and New Orleans are also circulated in Iberville Parish. Many Baton Rouge and some New Orleans stations are available in Iberville Parish. Television stations can be received from Baton Rouge and New Orleans including all four networks (ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX:). Cable service is also available in the parish and provides up to 35 stations.
Climate
Louisiana has a semitropical climate. Variations in daily temperature are determined by distance from the Gulf of Mexico and, to a lesser degree, by differences in elevation. The average annual temperature for the state as a whole is 67.4š. January is the coldest month averaging 50.7š, and July and August the warmest, averaging 82š. Iberville Parish enjoys a complete seasonal cycle with pleasant spring and fall seasons. Winter months are usually mild with cold spells of short duration. Snowfall is less than 2" per year. The summer months are quite warm, with an average daily maximum temperature of 93 degrees.

Transportation

Iberville Parish
Iberville Parish is located in southeast Louisiana. The parish anchors the southwest corner of the Capital Planning Region and is bounded by St. Martin and Iberia Parishes on the west; Pointe Coupee Parish on the north; West Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge and Ascension Parishes on the east; and Assumption Parish on the south. From Iberville Parish, a manufacturer can realistically expect third-day truckload service to major markets in 31 states and the District of Columbia. Within this 31-state area are 69 percent of the nationós population and 70 percent of its manufacturing plants. Iberville Parish presents itself as a very unique parish with respect to its geography, transportation systems, and land use. The western half of the parish lies within the Atchafalaya River Basin and is marked by numerous oil and gas fields primarily accessible by boat traffic. Because this area is considered wetlands and is subject to periodic inundation by rising waters, limited development has occurred, with farming and recreation as primarily purposes for land use. Iberville Parish also has access to is the Mississippi River, which dissects the parish and provides transportation facilities as well as water availability. These are vital assets to the numerous industrial and chemical plants located on its banks within the parish.
Interstate
Highway 10
Interstate Highway 10 stretches to both the east and west coasts of the United States. I-55 and I-49 are major north-bound connections that are only an hour from Iberville parishós northern reach on the west bank. These connections lead to Shreveport and Texarkana, Jackson, Mississippi and Memphis, Tennessee and on to Chicago, Ill. In addition I-10 is only a few miles from Ibervilleós east bank industrial corridor.
U. S. Highway 90
U.S. Highway x U.S. Highway x intersects Interstate x at x xx miles to the west and near New Orleans about x miles to the east. Highway 90 also intersects with Interstate x in x. It also continues to the eastern and western borders of the state.
State Highway 1
This road is on the Federal Aid Secondary program (FAS, 50ft. ROW with 24 ft. paved surface) along its entire length which parallels Bayou Lafourche. To the north of Iberville Parish Highway x extends diagonally through the state and is a major commercial connection to the northern part of the state. To the south Highway x runs toward industrial areas to the south between Thibodaux and Houma. This highway is well used and maintained for commercial traffic between Shreveport and Grand Isle.
State Highway 77
This highway runs from Interstate 10 within the parish to State Highway 1 at Plaquemine. This road is on the Federal Aid Secondary program (FAS, 50ft. ROW with 24 ft. paved surface) program from Highway 1 to Interstate 10.
State Highway 30
>In addition State Highway 30 passes through Iberville Parish on the east bank of the Mississippi River and links St. Gabriel with Baton Rouge to the north and I-10 and New Orleans to the south. Linking east and west Iberville are vehicle ferries across the Mississippi that cross at regular intervals near Plaquemine and White Castle. The nearest bridge crossings are the Mississippi River Bridge at Port Allen on I-10 and the Sunshine Bridge to the south near Donaldsonville.
Railroads
Iberville Parish is served by the Illinois Central Railroad on the east bank and the Union Pacific Railroad on the west bank of the Mississippi River. The Illinois Central tracks follow Highway 30 between the river and I-10 where most of the industry is located. On the west bank the Union Pacific parallels the river and serves the industrial corridor between Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Rail rates in Louisiana for many commodities tend to be lower than those in the other states because of the competition from barge carriers. These lines handle a significant volume of containers, TOFC and carload traffic between New Orleans and other parts of America. One day rail service is provided to Baton Rouge and New Orleans, two days to Shreveport, and three days to Houston or Dallas, Texas.
Port
Facilities


Cargo can be delivered by barge from Louisiana to all of mid-America via the 19,000 mile Mississippi River System. Louisiana also sits at the center of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway system that rims the northern Gulf of Mexico. Further, the state itself has 4,500 miles of navigable waterways served by 25 harbor and terminal districts, many of which can issue low-interest industrial revenue bonds to finance manufacturing and storage facilities. Also through the state there is a port construction and priority program that may assist in funding port facilities.
Deep Water Ports
The Port of South Louisiana, the Port of New Orleans and the Port of Greater Baton Rouge are three of the port authorities along this corridor which operate Foreign Trade Zones. Imported materials may be processed or repackaged in these zones without paying United States Customs duties or certain taxes.

Louisianaós lower Mississippi corridor is the leading port area in the world with a total annual tonnage of over 345 million tons. The port area stretches 230 miles inland on both banks of the river with more than 110,000 acres of large, affordable deepwater sites having barge and ship access. There are several campus-type industrial parks suitable for warehouse/distribution operations, offices, sales/service facilities and light manufacturing/assembly.
Airports
The aviation facility closest to Iberville Parish is 25 miles to the northeast in Baton Rouge and is served by 5 commercial carriers with 31 flights daily. General aviation facilities are also available at the Baton Rouge Metro Airport and one commuter airline for shorter destinations. Those current commercial carriers are Delta, American, Continental, Northwest and Emerald. Only 30 minutes away is New Orleans International (Moisant Field) This airport is serves southeast Louisiana with more than 20 national and international carriers providing direct passenger and cargo transportation to destinations in the U.S., Europe, Central and South America, and Asia. New Orleans International Airport is 60 miles from Iberville Parish and is accessible via Interstate Highway 10.

Nationwide passenger and parcel service are provided by Greyhound Bus Lines. Emery/Purolator, United Parcel Service and Federal Express are available.
Freight
Carriers
More than 50 freight carriers service the area including: SAIA Motor Freight Line, Roadway Express, Red Ball, Consolidated, Jones Truck Lines and Yellow Freight Lines. Motor Freight Carrier Terminals are located in Baton Rouge and Port Allen, 25 miles to the north and in Houma 50 miles south.
