Alexander Porter

Born Donegal County, Ireland June 24, 1785; died January 13, 1844. Early political leader and Statesman. Constitutional Convention (1811-1812); Louisiana Legislature (1816-1817); Louisiana Supreme Court (1821-1833); U.S. Senate (1833-1844); Built Oaklawn Manor, 1837; Close friend, Henry Clay, visited him there in 1842.

Located in Franklin, District 3, Hwy 90, St. Mary Parish. 140
