State Historical Marker








Belmont Plantation

Land was an original Spanish grant to François Pellerin. Property then owned successively by the Sterling, Peebles and finally the Wyche families. This plantation has produced sugar since late 19th century and is the site of unusual water powered sugar mill. The house was destroyed by fire in 1947.

Located in New Iberia, District 3, Hwy 86 from 31,. Iberia Parish. 187
