State Historical Marker








Sugar Kettle

Used by Jean Etienne de Boré in 1795 to granulate sugar from Louisiana cane for the first time, thus revolutionizing Louisiana’s economy. The kettle was later bought by planter John Hill and given to Louisiana State University.

Located in Baton Rouge, District 61, South Stadium Road, LSU Campus, East Baton Rouge Parish. 196
