Nicholas and at least two brothers settle in New Orleans during the Spanish era. Their business is at first located on the levee of the city, but moves later to the corner of St. Louis and Chartres. They purchase properties above the city in the vicinity of Girod Street. |

Elected mayor of New Orleans over James Pitot 859 to 461, but he does not assume office until October 8, 1812. His hopes of economic growth of New Orleans are crushed by the War of 1812. |
