François-Marie Prevost

Born in Pont-De-Ce France ca. 1764, son of Jean-Pierre Prevost and Marie-Anne Kenotaire. Studies medicine in Paris

He has been the health officer of Port-de-Paix in St. Domingue until civil war breaks out. He marries Marie Therese Burruchon and moves to Donaldsonville to practice medicine.
1822-1831
Performs successful Caesarian section deliveries saving seven out of eight patients.
Prevost is not the first doctor to do a Caesarian. The first was Dr. Jesse Bennett of Ruckingham County Virginia on January 14, 1794.
1831
Performs Caesarian on a slave woman with the stipulation that the patient is to be freed if she survives.
1839
May 29
Marries Victorine Castellain.
1842
Mat 18
Dies in Donaldsonville.
