North America:King Philip’s War, begun last year ends in victory for the settlers, but the Indians have killed 600 settlers and 12 of 52 New England settlements attacked have been completely destroyed. The losers are sold into slavery in the West Indies;
Bacon’s Rebellion in Virginia colony pits frontiersmen against tidewater aristocracy. Dutch slave trade bringing 15,000 slaves per year to the Americas from Angola.
