Europe: Louis XIV moves his court to new palacial digs at Versailles, the Duc de Bourgogne (the Duke of Burgundy) the kings eldest grandson is born; kitchens are so far from the dining rooms that food is served cold; Pressure cooker invented by French physicist; Plague in Halle and Magdeburg.
