South America & Caribbean:Events of this year in this region influencing Louisiana.
North America:Events in North America this year influencing Louisiana. Emigration of Calvinists and Lutherens from Rhineland Palatinate begins to England, but many will move on to the colonies of New York and Virginia in this decade.
Europe: Portuguese forces in Spain are defeated by French mercenery forces lead by the Duke of Berwick, James Fitzjames, illegitimate son of England's late James II. Irish forces will continue to serve the King of Spain for the next century. The United Kingdom of Great Britain is formed this year as the Scotish parliament is abolished. A special watch is invented in England to help take a pulse for medical diagnosis.
