French Colonialism | Expanding Slowly Along the Rivers and Bayous

South America & Caribbean:The War of Jenkins Ear merges with the larger War of Austrian Succession. Its termination at the Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle includes a renewal of the Spanish-British Asiento for another four years, but few of the maritime disputes were settled.
North America:The English colonies of North America are connected from end to end by post roads and packet boatsBethlehem is settled in the Pennsylvania colony by moravians who introduce Germon Christmas customs. Connecticut tinsmiths sell tinware door to door.
Europe: France experiences more famine and riots erupt in Paris. The death of Emperor Charles VI leads to the War of Austrian Succession and a break in the 25 years of peace between England and France. Spain's Philip V also challenges the succession. Sheffield Steel developed. Typhus epidemics in Germany and Ireland. Theatre by Pierre de Marivaux.

The Little Red Church of St. Charles Borromeo first constructed of logs about 1740. Burned and rebuilt in 1806 this famous riverboat landmark, 25 miles from New Orleans is where boat captains traditionally paid off their crews. Again burned and rebuilt about 1921.
