May 10 Pierre Francois de Rigaud, Marquis de Vaudreuil replaces Bienville as governor. He is called the Grand Marquis and uses his office to hold court, patterned on a small scale after Versailles. He holds grand balls and soirees. When he runs out of money he simply creates more. |
