| In 1748 Denis Braud is described as an old and notable resident of Mobile. He has soldiered for a while in Gavrits Company and moves to New Orleans where in 1754 he trades a half interest in a plantation for a house of Royal Street. Soon after he inherits from his parents estate on Martinique, serves as an attorney of sorts, is executive director of Charity Hospital when it is on Chartres and Bienville and is the first printer in Louisiana. |
