North America:British colonists make another treaty with Iriqouis and Delaware tribes facilitating further migration across the Allegheny. Ben Franklin begins selling fire insurance for homes when Philadelphia begins installing public street lighting. Boston and New York rely on organized window lighting. A cracked bell in Philadelphia's Pennsylvania State House is replaces by the locally cast Liberty Bell, which cracks during testing. Franklin's lightning rod is marketed. George Washington inherits his brother's plantation , Mount Vernon and works to become the colony's most prosperous flour producer. Virginia population is at a quarter million.
Europe: The Gregorian calander is adopted by Great Britain and her colonies. The rest of Europe had switched from the Julian calendar almost two centuries ago, Eleven days between September 2 and September 14 disappear, causing riots in London.Louis XV's plan to store grain against future famine in fact causes starvation, riots and cries of profit from speculation by the royalty.
