The town of LaPlace is created when a railroad stop was established on the Bazile LaPlace plantation in 1883. A post office followed in 1887. It was first named Eugenia, then re-named LaPlace in 1892 Train service to California established. Figaro is a colorfully illustrated satirical magazine that will exist from December 8, 1883 until July 26, 1884.
