Ruffin G. Pleasant becomes Governor of Louisiana. Trumpeter Harry James comes to New Orleans to form a jazz band Morehouse Parish Training School is built for Morehouse Parish blacks through the efforts of the parish school board and several Bastrop blacks. Subsequent buildings housed Morehouse High School until 1969 State Federation of Labor organized. Shriner÷s Jerusalem Temple at 1137 St. Charles Avenue built by Emile Weil and Sam Stone.
