On April 13, 1933 any beverage containing 3.2% alcohol are legalized by Congress and within a few days 911 retail beer permits were issued in the city. Restaurants become beer gardens and hotel bars reopened. 488,000 gallons of beer are sold in a few hours. Prohibition ends at exactly 5:23 p.m. on December 5, 1933 as Utah is the 36 state to ratify the 21st amendment. |
