Moisant Airport is named the nation s third busiest airport for international travellers behind Miami and New York.
The Kenner City Council approves measures aimed at stopping further expansion of Moisant Airport which it calls a growing cancer. Last year its first long-range plan was drawn up introducing a $14.4 million capital improvements program calling for a new terminal and tower. Aviation Board Chairman Edward Rapier makes an appeal calling the Quonset hut a ³blot upon the city ... a shabby, seedy place.²
