In state elections the anti-Long powers win with Robert F. McKennon as governor. and C. E Cap Barham as lt. governor. over the long ticket which includes Carlos Spaht and John McKeithen.
December 1951
St. Augustine High School opens it doors in New Orleans. It will celebrate many firsts for a predominantly black college preparatory school in the South. It will also be a training ground for many of the city's top leaders.
