Pan American World Airways Flight 759 crashes on take-off into Kenner÷s Roosevelt subdivision on July 9, 1982, killing 146 passengers and eight people on the ground. The crash fuels Kenner÷s long-simmering anger with the New Orleans International Airport, escalating a feud that will last more than 10 years. Later this year, five Kenner couples file a lawsuit asserting their property values have been lowered by the airport. Next year a judge rules that residents in Kenner÷s noiseiest neighborhoods may join the suit as a class action. |
