A third major renovation is planned to carry out a $650 million master development plan that will reconstruct over 80 percent of New Orleans International Airport. Consultants to the Aviation Board study the possibility of moving the airport or extending it beyond Airline highway to the Mississippi River, further into St. Charles Parish or north of interstate 10. The class action lawsuit is settled with the airport agreeing to seek federal money to buy or soundproof nearby homes.
